I love this guy: Fresh Roasted Coffee Delivered to Central Austin Homes

One of my happiest moments of each month is when this guy, "Robby", shows up at my house on his scooter with 2 pounds of freshly roasted French Roast coffee beans. Freshly roasted... as in "within hours"... and I have to say - this coffee tastes incredibly better than any of the coffee I have been bringing home from Whole Foods or Central Market since forever. Plus, 10% of all proceeds go to Hope House, an orphanage in northern Uganda

Give it a whirl. Pilot House Coffee

Slip Cover

I've been wanting to make a slipcover for a single side chair that I have. I'm wanting to hand paint the linen with a gold graphic pattern. Hopefully I'll find some time next week to work on it. I'll post when it's completed. I'm inspired to get working. Wish me luck.

Ernest de la Torre

I love the way the art is arranged on this wall. It very different from the typical. I think the negitive space in the middle is so intresting.

Tom Dixon

These light from Tom Dixon's 2010 collection are wonderful. They are made from extra thick pressed glass, the bead and top pendant lights were inspired by solid globules of glass that come from the furnace ready to be blown.

Interior Redesign

The styles of the 1950's are coming back and there are many products now available to "capture the past" in your home decorating. To get you started, here is a partial list of reproduced products inspired from the 1950's.
1. Fabric by the yard including barkcloth for curtains, pillows and furniture upholstery.
2. 50's style kitchen table and chair sets complete with chrome legs, formica table tops and vinyl covered seats in many colors.
3. Small retro style kitchen appliances including, toasters and soda shop drink mixers.
4. Classic pedal cars inspired from the 1940's and 50's.
5. Stoves and refrigerators reproduced with today's technology, but with the original appearance in many original colors. These are not cheap... be prepared to pay top dollar for the large kitchen appliances.
6. Replica diner jukeboxes, turntables, pay phones and radios.
7. Reproduced metal 6-pack picnic coolers, double bubble clocks and Coke machines.
8. Tin diner, car hop and motor oil signs.
9. Reproduction enamelware canister sets, soap dishes and bread boxes.
10. Metal laundry soap bins and glass laundry sprinklers for a bit of laundry room nostalgia.
Your local second hand stores are a good source if you are in the market for original furniture that can be revitalized with some reproduced 50's fabric.

Modern Interior Design

There are many different approaches to interior design, from traditional looking homes, period homes and then the ultra futuristic and everything in between! Yet one of the most popular design styles always remains to be a 'modern living' look.
To some people a 'modern' house just means minimalism with all the latest gadgetry and nothing more, however modernism is really so much more than that. It is set apart from a lot of interior design styles in that it is ever changing; Modern today is not modern tomorrow.
Modern interior design trends incorporate ideas and methods from other design styles as they come and go from fashion, as such it is often difficult for you to decorate a room in a modern style without making a choice of what modern styles you like or dislike yourself.
When it comes to colours used in modern design there is always two constants, black and white. White is used excessively in modern designs, simply because it is never a colour that goes out of fashion and always gives a fresh and up to date feel. The same is true for black, although the amount of black used can vary widely.
Currently however light pastel colours are heavily being used, especially as accent colours in a white room. This combination gives a grand illusion of space, making any room look larger and giving it greater depth. When combined with clever use of mirrors and other reflective pieces of furniture this can really combine to give a stunning look.

House Decoration

The above-mentioned are the important factors for a beautiful garden. Since Gardening is a part of decorating your house, it is essential to carefully plan of how you can decorate your house by having a beautiful garden at the backyard, front yard or even in a smaller place.

It is always not possible to use all of them to make a beautiful garden, but plants definitely are very important, since they change a look of a garden. They make it beautiful because of different plants we get fresh air, can you imagine when you are so tired, just coming out and sitting in the comfort of your own garden sipping a cup of coffee or tea? Or even a drink…

To have a beautiful garden it is also important to consider factors such as, climate of the area we live in, type of soil, sunlight and water etc. Considering these factors, we can move on to the next level of choosing appropriate plants that we would like to grow in our garden.

There are different types of plants depending on their sizes, growth and the period of their life etc. some of the flowering plants that most of them want in their garden are the roses and the orchid plants. In addition to these plants, there are crotons like Banana croton or Gold dust crotons that can be planted too. Since they add on to the look of your garden.

Interior Design Photography

Good pictures of interiors are a must if you want to make a good impression for whatever reason, but it is very difficult to get good results with a consumer camera. In my work photographing villas for holiday rentals I have worked out some short cuts to getting good results with minimal and cheap equipment in less than an hour. Here's how.

The problems you will encounter are practical and to do with light. Consumer cameras are designed for use outdoors in daylight. Interiors are very dark in comparison. Most cameras respond by popping up the flash, but the results of that are dingy: things that are close to the camera are too bright, and things that are further away are too dark. A similar problem is contrast: your camera does not do as well as your eyes, resulting in windows that are 'burnt out', too bright and lacking detail.

The use of light is fundamental to architecture and building design in general. You need to use the light that is already in the room if you want to show it off to the best advantage. Professional photographers use artificial lighting, but the skill is balancing that with making the most of the available light. Flash units are used to fill dark corners and lift the general light level to an acceptable level, so that the windows no longer burn out and the camera can cope with the contrast in the image, but the natural light in the room is what sells the picture.

Interior Door Design

If you are building a new home or renovating your existing home, you might want to consider interior and exterior French door options to add a touch of elegance and flair to any room in the house – and a beautiful focal point for the outside. A French door is also known as French windows and is a door made from panes of glass or glass panels, called "lites"; when choosing a French door, the door will be described by the number of lites in the door – as an example, a 15 lite French door or 15 panel French door. French doors are either interior (used for interior entrance doors or room dividers/partitions) or exterior door, used to gain entrance and exit from the home. Most French doors are partnered in pairs to create a large entry/exit when opened at the same time. French doors for the interior are typically made of wood while exterior French doors are usually made of a more weather-friendly material, like fiberglass, steel or other metals. The glass in a French door is made more durable than regular glass to withstand usage without breaking in most instances. French doors are available in pre-hung varieties that make them easier to install.

Interior French Doors

Interior French doors are made less durable than an exterior type. These doors can be used to adjoin one interior room to another; you may have seen many homes where the master bedroom features French doors that open into the master bathroom.

Exterior French Doors

Exterior French doors are designed to handle the many weather conditions that they might be exposed to, and are used as entryways into the home, often found near the posterior of the home, such as those that "let out" to the patio or deck. The French door allows bright natural sunshine into the home, so they are perfect for areas with poor lighting. The tempered glass that is normally used in the construction of exterior French doors is stronger than regular glass, including the glass on interior French doors.

High Interior

Art design and items for decoration is somehow important to you home or any other residential are. As you can see that some people see the value of the artifacts and have invested a lot of money buying many of them to decorate their house/office. In fact, it is not just selecting the item that you like to decorate the house, but there are also important factors that have to be taken into account. Thje following article tells you about basic elements that you have to consider to buy arts design and items for home decorations. This is because, as you already know , that many type of art works are so expensive so you have to be sure that you get the best value of money.

Interior Decoration Pictures

One thing you need to decide on when changing the interior of your house is what style you want the theme to be in. Heck there are tons of choices like Southwest, Country, Oriental, and even Medieval. Yes all of those themes have been used before and will surely be used again.
Interior decoration is up to the person who owns the house and who will be living there for however long they own the house. Of course if it’s a couple they will most likely need to compromise on a few of the areas. You know, the husband wants a sports room done all in Nascar, but the wife would rather have something a bit more tame.
This is where you can either decide to hire a person to help you that is an interior designer, or you can go about it all by yourself. For money savings you will want to do all the stuff by yourself. Of course you will have all the stress of what color to paint the walls and if you want to have wall paper or just a border, or if it’s a feminine look or if you want to go for a more masculine look.
There are so many things to decide when taking on an interior decoration project that most people don’t even attempt it. They don’t want to fight with each other, or their tastes don’t match close enough to get a happy medium of what they want their house to look like.

Interior Decoration Software

Interior design software is a fascinating piece of technology that is revolutionizing the interior design and construction sales industry. Interior design software allows the salesman in most cases to lay out and convey the customers needs and wants when it comes to interior design renovations, to the contractor or handyman that will physically perform the construction on any given project. Interior design software has developed in the last few years into quite a tool for the average construction salesman. The ease with which interior design can sell itself to a potential customer is unbelievable.

First of all, you can not only dream about the way you want a kitchen to look for instance, a construction salesman or interior designer can sit down with you, find out what kind of counter you want, how many cabinets you want, find out if you want a double bowl under-mounted sink, then they can begin to design the kitchen right before your very eyes, as you sit in your old rundown kitchen watching. Very good interior design software can take this further, much further. You can input measurements from your existing kitchen to get the new design exact in size, every detail replicated right down to scale. Then, as you see and help design the build of your new kitchen, after you pick out appliances and so forth, you get to the next, perhaps best feature in some software. You begin to pick out colors for the new kitchen; you get to pick out countertop design for your new kitchen. Are you sick of enamel countertops that chip away? How about a nice Corean? After you’ve picked all this out, spending a couple of hours designing, building, and choosing the colors for your redesigned room, the customer often gets to the best part of the evening. In some cases you can do a virtual walkthrough.

Interior Decoration Tips

Your living room no longer needs to be that formal, unused room just off the entryway. Gone are the days of the proper parlor where you sipped tea, and remember those matchingliving room sets where people left the plastic on so they wouldn’t get dirty? (OK, I may be dating myself with that one) Why? What purpose could it possibly serve to have a room that was never used? To receive visitors – that was about it.

Life it much too casual in this day and age to continue to have that formal living room to entertain in only a few times a year. You can still have a nice room for having guests, but a stiff, formal room is not exactly conducive to having a nice visit with friends and making people feel comfortable while entertaining.

Start living in your living room again. Make it more user-friendly instead of letting it set cold and lonely. This room is crying out for a makeover.
  • Use more versatile furniture and invest in classic pieces that won’t look outdated within the next few years.
  • Make your living room look more comfortable and “lived in,” start with comfortable seating and mix in antiques or vintage pieces. Antiques don’t necessarily have to be formal Victorian pieces, there are plenty of more casual antiques available for living rooms.
  • Avoid buying sets or groupings, instead select individual pieces that blend and work well together. Don’t buy the matching couch, loveseat and chair set. The only matching that you should do with furniture would be perhaps a pair of loveseats in a seating area. Don’t use a lonely, single chair in the corner either, someone may actually use it and feel left out, try to keep seating in groups to encourage conversation and interaction.
  • Have furniture of varying heights to add interest to a room and create a homey effect.
  • Place lighting at different levels in the room. Use a combination of accent lighting, table lamps and decorative lamps to add warmth and atmosphere to yourliving room.

Dramsfield & Ross

I'm loving these items at Dramsfield & Ross. I especially love this needle point cow rug. What a great alternative. I would have to say that they have the best pillows. I know that they sell a few at Barney's.
